In the interview series "F2F with ALTEN China Engineers", we talked to 14 ALTEN engineers in China who are active in the automotive field. Here"s what they say:
→ Learning from work and precipitating technology
In 2007, ALTEN offered me the opportunity to work in the UK, which was a very valuable experience in my life. -- Josh, Powertrain Calibration Engineer
ALTEN is a Premium Partner of AUTOSAR and are able to participate in the development of AUTOSAR standards. There are not many local companies that use AUTOSAR standards in Chongqing, so I came to work here because I thought I could learn some of the more cutting-edge technologies and spend a few years to settle down and get the ideas off the ground. -- Lance, Software Development Engineer
One of the nicknames for our calibration engineers is anti-seasonal migratory birds, and we go to Heilongjiang every year from December to January to conduct cold-weather tests. In order to get the coldest temperature point, we would do operational experiments in the -30s without gloves before the sun came up.
It was quite challenging to start working on such a project team and to take on the hardest part of the project, but after six months I found that my learning, growth and resilience had improved significantly. -- Beie, Calibration Integration Engineer
→ Diverse projects and career advancement opportunities
I have been with ALTEN for over 10 years, moving from Test Software Engineer to Project Assistant and then to Project Manager, during which time I have experienced many challenges and of course gained a lot of experience. -- Roy, Project Manager
I joined ALTEN as a fresher. It was about two years later that I was given the opportunity (at ALTEN) to be responsible for all the testing of a new project product, which gave me a more systematic and comprehensive approach, and was a great exercise.
Now I am responsible for testing and test analysis at lock system level. My English was not very good, but I have got better after working in an international team. -- Pingping, Automotive Component Test Engineer
I joined ALTEN after the second year of my Master"s degree. Now my days are full and bald. My daily work starts with the product, facing the quality requirements of the project, solving technical problems together with my counterpart factories and European counterpart technologies, guiding the suppliers to produce prototypes that meet the technical specifications, passing the various PV test entries, and when the product is officially put into mass production, I think it"s all worth it. -- JS, Automotive Product Engineer
ALTEN has brought me a new working environment, working mode and a change of mindset. For me, ALTEN brings a wider scope for development. -- Jialing, Brake Control Engineer
→ Diverse, tolerant and harmonious working atmosphere
ALTEN has built the best platform for me to persevere in my passion: ALTEN offers more learning opportunities for female engineers and has also built up cooperation with many clients and different industries, allowing to make a difference in my career and do what I am interested in. -- Automotive Software Development Engineer Maria
I have been in the automotive components industry for over 10 years, working on instrument panels, sub-instruments, door trims, ECUs, cameras and now I am working on the design and development of steering column modules at ALTEN.
I have been here for half a year and I have pushed 5 friends to come here for interviews. For one thing, the benefits here are really good and the BM and HR people will answer me directly if I have any questions, which is good; at the same time, I hope to integrate into the environment faster this way. -- Joey, Automotive Product Development Engineer
Working here, everyone respects each other very much and values your opinion. The overall working atmosphere is still relatively relaxed and pleasant, especially for a socially-scared person like me. -- Bruce, ADAS Functional Test Engineer
I had the opportunity to participate in the offline event of ALTEN Engineers Alliance in Chongqing, and met friends from different project groups and industries, and the debate was also very interesting. -- Weijun, Automotive Software Test Engineer
