A dedicated, autonomous team manages the complete harness design cycle, producing CAD data per request and adhering to strict project milestones. ALTEN independently handles team building, ramp-up and ramp-down, training, and deliverables, alongside regular quality reporting. The team is also driving a major quality process transition, with a key phase underway for implementation in 2025.

 

Challenges

The design and development of vehicle harnesses present multiple engineering and supply chain challenges:

  • Complex Harness Design: Managing both 2D CAD (with CHS) and 3D data (with CATIA v6 or UG Formboard) to meet precise vehicle integration requirements.
  • End-to-End Project & Supplier Management: Overseeing harness manufacturing suppliers and coordinating component development (CD) suppliers to ensure alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Component Officialization: Managing parts officialization via PLM Enovia for all harness-related components (e.g., Battery Pack, Alternator, Starter, Sensors, Actuators).
  • Quality Process Transition: Ensuring a smooth and compliant shift to a more mature quality phase by 2025.

The client required a highly autonomous engineering partner capable of managing the entire harness development process—from design and supplier coordination to quality reporting and process evolution.

1. Harness Design & CAD Data Delivery

  • Production of 2D harness CAD using CHS and 3D modeling with CATIA v6 or UG Formboard.
  • Management of harness CAD data deliveries according to project requests and milestones.

2. Project & Supplier Management

  • End-to-end project management (CP), including scheduling, resource ramp-up/ramp-down, and training.
  • Supplier management for both harness manufacturing and component development (CD).

3. Parts Officialization & PL

  • Officialization of harness-related components using PLM Enovia.
  • Coordination of development for key parts including Battery Pack, Alternator, Starter, Sensors, and Actuators.

4. Quality Management & Reporting

  • Regular quality reporting throughout project execution.
  • Management of the quality process transition, with a key milestone targeted in 2025.
